UPDATE ON NIKOLAI THE PENITENT

I am halfway finished with the manuscript of Nikolai the Penitent. It has taken me seven months to make it this far, but this is not because the book has been difficult to write. In these seven months, in addition to writing the manuscript, I have had Beast professionally edited and published, I re-edited and published all of my previous novels and short stories, and I helped launch The Crossover Alliance with my partners. And my wife and I found out that we are expecting out third child, a girl. Needless to say, it's been a busy seven months.

I don't expect the next half of my manuscript to take another seven months, now that there are less literary distractions. My goal is to be finished by the end of this year, which will be a bit of a stretch since this is going to be by far my longest book. I'm writing at a steady pace of around 500 words every night, which isn't enough to put me on track to finish by the end of the year, so I will have to step it up every now and then. Even if I don't make my goal, I know I will be close, which will allow the rest of the winter, spring, and summer for editing and pre-publication with a tentative autumn publication date. But for now, I'm just enjoying the ride. This book is going to be insane, and I know you're going to love it.
